Come support your favourite young directors and check out the up and coming talents that will shape the future of Czech and Slovak cinema.

WILD GAME (FAMU)

Director: David Payne | Producer: FAMU |
Star: Jenovéfa Boková, Petr Vršek, Tomáš Dastlík, Pavel Šimčík, Filip Branberger |
Year: 2019 | Length: 22 min | Live Action |

Jane is about to have a beautiful weekend in the mountains with her boyfriend – at least, that’s what she thinks. But instead of her boyfriend, three uninvited guests show up at her doorstep, and they’re not going away. It’s getting dark, a contest begins, and Jane happens to be the grand prize. There’s only one person who can help her.

CRIMES AGAINST PIZZA (FAMO)

Director: Karel Šindelář | Producer: FAMO |
Star: Tomáš Turek, Marie Turková, Pavel Šimčík, Matěj Nechvátal |
Year: 2019 | Length: 24 min | Live Action |

Tomas´s life is slipping through his fingers. And while he waits for something new to come, he finds out that he can´t even decide what he wants it to be. And what if the thing he wanted is already gone? With the stagnation of rational decision-making, his own subconscious comes to his aid and takes Tomas on a long psychedelic adventure full of lost dreams. A student film about a man who can't form an opinion in a world where there are too many opinions around.

BOREDOM (VŠMU)

Director: Alica Bednáriková | Producer: VŠMU |
Star: Karin Adzimová, Gabriela Škrabáková, Attila Mokos, Honza Dibitanzl, Braňo Mosný |
Year: 2020 | Length: 19 min | Live Action |

Boredom follows a life of a young girl, Greta, who is a pathological liar. Using an unreliable narration of the story, she deceives not only the characters, but the viewer himself. This manipulative nature of hers causes an absurd chain of events, after which Greta as a character is, as she should be, completely transformed. Except she isn’t.

AGNES (UTB)

Director: Adam Šoltés | Producer: UTB |
Star: Michal Soltész, Martin Seman, Radoslav Lukáč, Rudolf Schubert |
Year: 2019 | Length: 30 min | Live Action |

A bitter comedy from Eastern Slovakia deals with a fortunate man living a happy life in the village of Vrchná Spodná, in a region where “nothing ever happens”. The main character, Jano Horák, begins his day with a visit to a local shop, where he and the other men have a shot of juniper brandy. He then starts his Praga V3S lorry nicknamed Agnes and sets on his day-long trip of neighbouring villages. He earns his livelihood as a craftsman, cleaning local people’s cesspits. His happy life is disrupted after he learns of a government regulation introducing an old-bachelor tax. His peaceful life turns into a race against time and a struggle with himself. Within days, Jano had to do what he hadn’t done for years; to find a woman who would testify that they are living together.

Total length of the screening 97 min. In Czech and Slovak language with English subtitles.
